I've always been intrigued by the "To/From" cards that come attached to gifts. Also with those romantic, Hallmark-y cards sold in bazaars, stores and supermarkets during my childhood (I have no idea if they still exist). Some cards were so cheap and small that you could not even write your name, let alone a message. Sometimes you had to use the back, but that side was were the price or barcode was printed. When I was at school I bought one with bears and hearts to give to a girl I liked: it remained in my drawer because when I tried to write with a pen on that shiny plastic, the ink slipped and made a terrible stain, not unlike the art I would do in the future :)

This series pays tribute to those emotional, precarious and disposable artifacts...and feelings.

Siempre estuve intrigado por las tarjetas "De/Para" que van pegadas a los regalos. También con las tarjetas románticas plásticas, tipo Hallmark, que podía comprar en bazares, tiendas y supermercados durante mi niñez (no tengo idea si aún existen). Algunas tarjetas eran tan pequeñas y baratas que no alcanzaba ni siquiera el nombre, menos aún un mensaje. A veces tenías que escribir el mensaje atrás, pero ahí solía estar el precio o el código de barras. Cuando estaba en el colegio compré una con ositos y corazones para regalar a una chica que me gustaba: quedó guardada en mi cajón porque al tratar de escribir con pluma sobre ese plástico brillante, la tinta resbaló e hice un manchón terrible, no muy distinto a las obras que haría en el futuro :)

Esta serie rinde tributo a esos artefactos (y sentimientos) emotivos, precarios y descartables.
